Life without barriers: a participant of the Driving School for Persons with Disabilities obtains her driving license

Today, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center in the village of Zymna Voda, Ukrainian parachute fencing champion Nadiia Dyoloh successfully completed her practical exam and obtained a category B driver's license.

Nadiia became one of the first students of the Driving School for People with Disabilities and received her training at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

Nadiia Dyoloh hails from Zakarpattia. She endured a severe spinal injury in her childhood and has been using a wheelchair ever since. At the age of 25, she relocated to Uzhhorod. There, she initially pursued powerlifting, and in 2015, she discovered fencing.

She is currently a recipient of numerous national and international accolades, with her most recent achievement being a silver medal at the Wheelchair Fencing World Championships, which occurred earlier this year in October in Italy.

Beyond her sporting endeavors, Nadiia Dyoloh is actively engaged in advocating for accessibility. She aspires to make all Ukrainian cities more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

One of Nadiia's paramount objectives was to acquire the ability to drive a car independently. Given her training, she often needs to cover long distances with heavy equipment.

To realize her ambition, she enrolled in a driving school designed for people with disabilities in Lviv. She completed the theoretical stage online and successfully passed the examination at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center. The subsequent step was the practical driving course.

Today, she has successfully passed the examination and received the long-cherished driving license.

During a media briefing, Roman Blahuta, the Rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, underscored, "This project is a highly essential, successful, and timely initiative spearheaded by First Lady Olena Zelenska, aimed at fostering an inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities. Presently, eight students are enrolled at the Driving School at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. Our instructors continuously enhance their expertise to ensure the highest quality of the learning process, undergoing communication training and specialized courses. I firmly believe that the demand for the public service we provide will continue to grow."

The Driving School for Persons with Disabilities in Lviv is situated at 1 M. Kryvonos Street.
