About the University

The mission of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs is to create and disseminate high-quality knowledge, innovations, and an educational system aimed at training qualified specialists in the fields of law, law enforcement, socio-economic and managerial disciplines. The university also contributes to the development of leadership potential, a culture of security, a competitive economy, and the capacity and readiness for change, thereby supporting the maintenance of a safe living environment within Ukrainian society.

Lviv State University of Internal Affairs is a multidisciplinary institution of higher education under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. It provides educational services for the training of specialists in accordance with various degrees of higher education, educational programs, and specialties.

The educational process at the university is provided by 20 departments.

Among the highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff of the university there are 10 academicians, 37 Doctoral candidates and 212 PhD candidates, 1 “Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine”, 2 “Honoured Workers of Education”, 1 “Honoured Worker of Science and Technology”, 3 “Excellence in Education”, including 40 professors and 154 associate professors, 1 Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine, 11 Masters of Sports of Ukraine and 1 Master of Sports of the USSR.

The University closely cooperates with educational institutions of foreign countries, in particular the Republic of Poland (Higher Police School in Szczytno; Higher School of Law and Administration in Przemyśl-Rzeszów; Lublin John Paul II Catholic University; Marie Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin); Higher School of Security (Przemyśl), University of Occupational Safety Management (Katowice), State Technical and Economic Higher School (Yaroslavl), Georgia (Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs), the Republic of Armenia (Educational Complex of Police), the Czech Republic (Prague Security Studies Institute), the Republic of Serbia (Academy of Criminalistics and Police Studies), the Republic of Moldova (Academy Stefan Cel Mare), the Republic of Belarus (the Ministry of the Interior Academy), the Republic of Tajikistan (Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs), The European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Association of European Police Colleges, the Hanns Seidel Foundation. Within the framework of this cooperation, delegations are exchanged to study the experience of training specialists for law enforcement agencies.

A significant role in the work with personnel takes the issues of moral, spiritual and aesthetic training of applicants of higher education. All conditions for comprehensive development of the personality are created in Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

During the academic year, the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work of the Personnel Department conducts:

• Competitions (photo contest, New Year and Christmas contest "Ukraine carols", competition for the best recitation of poems by Taras Shevchenko, for the best recitation of Ukrainian poetry and prose between different higher education institutions of Lviv, for the best performance of a parade song, beauty contest "Miss LVDUVS")
• Concerts ("Christmas carols", Defender of Ukraine Day, Student Day, on the occasion of Valentine's Day, International Women's Day, Mother's Day, Science Day, Father's Day, Constitution Day of Ukraine)
• Evenings of remembrance (on the occasion of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33, the victims of the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, honoring the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred)
• Requiem rallies (on the occasion of honoring the participants of the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident, honoring the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the Day of Remembrance of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine);
• Brain-rings with the participation of students of secondary schools of the city of Lviv on the occasion of the All-Ukrainian week of law
• Flash mobs (on the occasion of the anniversary of the first performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine "Ukraine is not dead yet", Poetry Day, Embroidery Day, Flag Day, Independence Day);
• Lectures for higher education applicants of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs
• Charitable social projects (“Give a helping hand”, “Feed the hungry”, “Unite well.” Assistance to needy people and people at risk due to the threat of acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Visiting geriatric boarding houses, infirm and lonely pensioners of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, visiting boarding schools of Lviv region)
• Together with the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Regional State Administration, the LODA Children's Service, the Juvenile Prevention Sector of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region, regional competitions of the Young Policeman of Lviv Region teams are held
