Lviv Patrol Officers Debunk Common Myths Concerning the Use Seat Belts

Representatives of the Patrol Police Department of Lviv Region conducted another practical workshop for second-year cadets of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

The workshop was led by Kateryna Shapovalova, Deputy Head of the Public Relations Unit, and police inspector Mariia Yuzefiv. During the discussion, the speakers debunked ten of the most widespread myths concerning the use of seat belts.

In addition, the cadets viewed an educational video highlighting the importance of properly fastening a seat belt while driving.

The patrol officers emphasized that every passenger in a vehicle must fasten a seat belt, regardless of seating position, as it significantly increases the chances of survival in the event of a traffic accident.

Special attention was also given to the technical condition of vehicles. The officers outlined which mechanical faults permit vehicle operation and which ones render it strictly prohibited.

«Road safety depends not only on the driver's skills, but also on the proper functioning of brakes, tires, and other vehicle systems», noted Mariia Yuzefiv.

Moreover, as part of the «Safety. Road. Life» project, police officers reminded cadets of the fundamental rules for safe vehicle operation. They also provided a detailed overview of the responsibilities of drivers and pedestrians, while underlining the legal liability associated with traffic rule violations.
