LvSUIA cadets were told about the possibilities of using open sources of information in solving financial crimes

Useful tools for finding new data on the Internet were discussed at the meeting.

Oleh Pidkhomnyi, Professor at the Department of Finance, Money Circulation and Credit of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, spoke at the seminar "Possibilities of intelligence based on open sources (OSINT) in uncovering financial crimes related to the military aggression of the russian federation".

The speaker told the young people that it is important to search for information in different search engines and in different languages. He emphasized that there are many search tools, but the main thing is the researcher's own search style. And new data can be found on the Internet using photos, geographical maps or keywords.

"You can have a lot of tools, but not know what and how to look. Therefore, there should be an individual approach to each case," the speaker added.

Since the training of search and analytical abilities of a law enforcement officer should be systematic, the speaker recommended communication channels where, with the help of quest genre tasks and their video solutions, you can strengthen your ability to get the most useful information from open sources.
