A meeting with journalist and Ukrainian defender Mykola Saveliev was held at LvSUIA

The event was organized for the World Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated every year on May 3rd.

Mykola Saveliev, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Ratusha" and a soldier of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade, told the cadets about the standards of journalism and the basics of successful implementation in the profession. He told about interesting stories during the years of work, in particular, regarding the coverage of high-profile investigations. After all, Mykola Saveliev wrote a lot of materials on this topic.

"It is necessary to work a lot on any issue in order to understand a simple, at first glance, situation. But both the journalist and the law enforcement officer should think more broadly and check any information. When they bring you compromising material, you need to check what prompted a person to do it: truthfulness or a desire to harm a competitor," Mykola Saveliev said.

The editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Ratusha" and a soldier of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade shared his childhood dream. He said that he once wanted to become a law enforcement officer.

In February 2022, in fact, from the first day of the full-scale invasion, he went to the recruitment office. And already in April, he fought with the enemy on the front line.

Mykola Saveliev is currently undergoing treatment after being wounded. And soon he is going return to the front line.

According to the defender, after the war he wants to continue working in journalism.
