Training for police officers on domestic and gender-based violence started at LvSUIA

The next stage of training for police officers of Lviv region who respond to cases of domestic and gender-based violence has begun at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. The event was organized by the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine.

The participants of the event were greeted by the Vice-Rector of LvSUIA Olha Balynska. She thanked law enforcement officers for performing such an important function in our society.

The problems of domestic and gender-based violence are particularly pressing in Ukraine. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian rederation on the territory of our state, this phenomenon became even more widespread. After all, people who are not always able to own their emotions return home. And police officers have to be the first to receive citizens' complaints and provide qualified assistance. So I wish everyone success in their studies. I am convinced that you will be able to minimize and, in some cases, stop the wave of violence, the Vice-Rector emphasized.

The training will be conducted by Senior Adviser on Prosecution Gediminas Buciunas from Lithuania, Trainer on Criminal Investigations Jukka Larkio, from Finland, and Advisor/Trainer on Community Policing Lars Groenlund from Denmark. Besides that, Marta Vasylkevych, Head of the Sector of Domestic Violence Prevention of the Lviv District Police Department No.2, and Vira Protsiv, Deputy Head of the Public Relations Department of the а також представники громадських організацій та суду join the event.

After the successful completion of the 4 training days the participants will be awarded their certificates.
