Researchers and practitioners discussed the current issues of police training under martial law

A round table dedicated to this important topic was held at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. The discussion concerned the development of the competences of the National Police employees, the peculiarities of professional and psychological training and patriotic education of law enforcement officers in modern conditions. In addition, it was about the implementation of educational programs taking into account the needs of stakeholders.

LvSUIA Vice Rector Vasyl Franchuk opened the event with a welcome speech. "War makes adjustments to our reality, it not only takes people's lives, but also tests psychological stability and a sense of patriotism. Now Ukrainian police officers work in emergency conditions, under which it is very difficult to perform professional functions. So today we faced several challenges. Firstly, identifing problems related to the development of police officers' competencies. Secondly, finding out what exactly should be changed in the psychological training and military-patriotic education of our recruits. I wish everyone a fruitful and lively discussion!" he emphasized.

The discussion was moderated by Danylo Yosyfovych, the Deputy Director of the Institute for the Training of Specialists for the National Police Units.

During the round table, the participants discussed the current requirements for the competences of the investigator, the formation of the ability to apply the norms of criminal law during the training of specialists for pre-trial investigation units. They also considered the peculiarities of training employees of operational divisions of the National Police to counter organized crime in wartime conditions.

The participants also touched on the topic of combating crimes related to human trafficking and Internet fraud.

The discussion also concerned the psychological aspects of law enforcement officers' readiness to ensure human rights and freedoms. It was also about the formation of psychological self-help skills. The participants also shared their opinions on the gender approach in the training of specialists for the units of the National Police of Ukraine.

The round table was attended by representatives of the Investigative Department of the Police in Lviv region, their colleagues from Criminal Investigation Department, migration police, the Department of Organizational Analytical Support, the Department of Preventive Activities and the Department of Combating Cybercrimes in Lviv Region, as well as the Public Organization "Women's Perspectives Center".
