LvSUIA cadets learned about the principles of community policing

What is community policing and why it is becoming increasingly popular – the Deputy Head of the Public Relations Department of Main Patrol Police in Lviv region Vira Protsiv said. She also presented successful projects that were implemented due to the cooperation of law enforcement officers and ordinary citizens.

During an online meeting with LvSUIA cadets, the police representative focused on principles that should be followed in order to effectively interact with the community.

She noted that police officers can communicate with residents not only during personal meetings, but also using modern platforms - chatbots or social networks. This helps to keep in touch with citizens and respond quickly to all appeals.

"Such cooperation should be aimed at preventing crimes and creating a safe environment," the patrol officer emphasized.

Vira Protsiv told about successful initiatives that were implemented due to the community policing principle. For example, the "School Police Officer" project, which was launched in 2016. Its participants were patrol officers who had undergone special training. School officers conducted classes in kindergartens, schools and other educational institutions. They talked about safety rules in different situations. Kids were taught to be careful on the streets, and high school students were advised how to avoid traps on the Internet.

Vira Protsiv also mentioned the joint projects that were created to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances.

At the end of the meeting, she advised young law enforcement officers to build relations with the community on the basis of equality and partnership.
