LvSUIA cadets have attended training on combating human trafficking

The university held an interactive training on the topic "Raising the level of awareness of cadets and primary identification of cases of exploitation and human trafficking." It was conducted by Olena Kalbus, an expert from the public organization "Center for Women's Perspectives".

During the training, the cadets learned how to identify human trafficking and counteract various forms of this phenomenon.

At the beginning of the training, Olena Kalbus suggested to analyze the most common myths and facts related to human trafficking. In addition, she introduced the audience to a portrait of a vulnerable group.

"Even the people who had a stable financial condition and social status are now ready to take risks to earn a living for their family, and therefore can get into such a situation," the speaker noted.

Young men and women considered the main definitions of human trafficking and gender-based violence, the stages of committing this crime, its methods and purpose.

In the second part of the event, the cadets discussed the most pressing issues related to human trafficking, in particular, the difference between the victim and the injured person, the specifics of the prosecution and prohibited techniques in the investigation of such crimes.

International legal documents in the field of prevention of human trafficking were not ignored either.

At the end of the training, the cadets consolidated their knowledge in simulated situations.

It should be noted that the event was supported by the International Organization for Migration and the Swedish government.

Currently, Lviv State University of Internal Affairs is the only higher education institution in Ukraine that trains specialists in combating human trafficking.
