British experts will be teaching professional English to the cadets of LSUIA

The rector ofLviv State University of Internal Affairs, Roman Blahuta, met with representatives of the Institutional Support Foundation (UK), David Lewis and Jonathan Jackson, as well as the Rector of the University of York, Chris Cullwick.

They discussed the implementation stages of a pilot project focused on teaching professional English to LSUIA cadets.

Over the next few days, under the mentorship of British experts, the young men and women will acquire essential communication skills in a foreign language.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks by Roman Blahuta, Rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

"We are honored to have sincere individuals who support Ukraine, particularly its law enforcement system, during such challenging times. You have demonstrated true humanism and openness to cooperation. The training of Ukrainian police officers has not gone unnoticed. To effectively learn from the best practices of our British colleagues, a professional command of English is crucial. That is why we are jointly implementing this pilot project," stated Roman Blahuta.

Chris Cullwick, the Rector of the University of York, also joined the event via an online connection.

"After russia's full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory, our mayor decided to recognize Lviv as a sister city of York. This gesture is not only friendly but also signifies a step towards cooperation. Your unique national culture has already become ingrained in the lives of local residents. Now we offer comprehensive support to Ukraine, including implementing of language initiatives for the youth. These initiatives are not only beneficial but also significantly contribute to the future development of your state and the strengthening of international relations," the speaker noted.

David Lewis, a representative of the International Police Association in London and one of the project lecturers, emphasized that the current training topics would encompass police ethics standards and the fight against corruption.
