Department of Finance and Accounting

General Information

The Department of Finance and Accounting was established in 2016 on the basis of Department of Accounting and Audit and Department of Finance.

The department trains students for the bachelor’s degree in specialities 071 “Accounting and Taxation” and 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” and for the master’s degree in the speciality 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” of the educational-professional program “Financial intelligence”.

The mission of the Department of Finance and Accounting is qualitative training of qualified professionals who possess modern knowledge of accounting and taxation, finance, banking and insurance on the basis of harmonization of the educational process with application of modern information technologies and innovative forms and methods of educational process to ensure their competitiveness at the labor market and effective interaction with society.

The staff of the department performs the set of tasks in order to implement the mission, among the main tasks are the following:

  • to implement actively the innovative educational technologies in the process of teaching the disciplines of educational degree “bachelor” and “master”;
  • to improve constantly the human resources of the department by further training of lecturers, adoption of modern computer technologies and pedagogical skills;
  • to conduct scientific and practical workshops with the involvement of professional financial market participants;
  • to work constantly on the preparation of textbooks, manuals, other training resources, computer programs, etc.;
  • to conduct academic research work, supervise the research work of students and postgraduates;
  • to participate in scientific and practical conferences, seminars, meetings, trainings;
  • to improve and develop new teaching and learning materials of disciplines, taking into account modern information and innovative technologies in the educational process;
  • to introduce innovative technologies into the educational process.

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department as of September 1, 2019 has 13 lecturers, in particular: 3 Doctors of Economics (23.1%), 9 Candidates of Economic Sciences (69.2%) and 1 senior lecturer.

Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department carries out active scientific activity: publish monographs, manuals, textbooks, scientific articles, participates in international, all-Ukrainian and university scientific and practical events, and undertakes internships in Ukraine and abroad.

The staff of the department provides teaching of 46 disciplines for students of bachelor’s degree and 12 disciplines for students of master’s degree of the educational program “Financial intelligence”.

The academic disciplines assigned to the department have the appropriate methodological support, which is allocated in the electronic library of the university. Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department are professionally mobile and adapted to changes in the legislative, educational and economic environment; the staff use innovative pedagogical and modern information technologies in the educational process; constantly working on updating the content, forms and methods of teaching. The lecturers are promoted by the introduction of innovative approaches to the teaching of specialized disciplines in the preparation of textbooks and manuals for the students.

Moreover, leading specialists-practitioners are involved in teaching of certain academic disciplines. Highly qualified teaching staff in combination with experienced practitioners has its advantages, which affect not only the level of training and professional development of specialists, but also their personal qualities, worldview, understanding of life situations and manners. High scientific potential allows the department to provide the appropriate level of specialists’ training for working in new economic climate.

The students’ research group “Financial Analyst” is formed and successfully operates in the direction of scientific activity of the department. Listeners and participants of the group are a wide range of students of the faculty. The supervisors of the group recommend the most teachable and promising students in scientific work to participate in competitions and students’ scientific conferences of the Faculty of Management and Economic Security, according to the results of the scientific group during the reporting period. Graduates of the department successfully work in state and local authorities, banks, financial companies, investment funds, economic and financial services of enterprises and organizations. And the best graduates continue their studies in postgraduate training program at the university and work at the Department of Finance and Accounting.
