The Department of Tactical Special Training (hereinafter - TST) was established in April 2006. From the first days of its foundation the department was headed by the master of sports of the USSR, candidate of historical sciences, the colonel of militia Bulachek Volodymyr Romanovych.
It is due to the high professional and organizational qualities of Bulachek V.R. the professional scientific and pedagogical core of the newly created department was formed, which structurally became a part of the Faculty №2.
As a result of organizational and staffing changes, in October 2016 the Department of TST was included in the staff of the Faculty №3 of the Institute for training specialists of the National Police.
It is worth noting that today the Department of TST is a unique unit, which has no analogues in the structure of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. The professional uniqueness of the Department of TST lies in the presence of three integral professional competencies in its activities:
Scientific and pedagogical component. It lies in the fact that the scientific and pedagogical team on a par with other departments develops educational and methodological support of the educational process. Every year it fully implements the plan of scientific research and development work. Eight scientific and pedagogical workers in the staff of the department are candidates of sciences, including candidates of law, historical sciences, economics, physical education and sports. Three of them have the academic title of associate professors.
Sports component. It consists in the fact that there exists sport sections of ball shooting under the guidance of the teaching staff. The staff of the department personally together with the cadets takes part in competitions of different levels of classification and takes prizes for:
- championships of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;
- sports contests of the Lviv regional organization of the physical culture and sport society “Dynamo” of Ukraine;
- championships of the Lviv region and Ukraine;
- specialized competitions of international level.
Sports qualification of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department is: 1- master of sports of Ukraine of international class; 6 - masters of sports of Ukraine; 5 - candidates for masters of sports of Ukraine.
Taking into consideration the specifics of professional activity, a significant proportion of practical classes on TST, the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department is constantly working to maintain proper physical shape, practices visiting sports complexes, swimming pools and doing athletics.
Military-tactical component. Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department has significant experience of practical activities in the police, in particular, to participate in special operations to detain armed criminals, the elimination of riots. Five scientific and pedagogical employees of the department are the participants in hostilities, four of them are the participants of the ATO. Business trips to the combat zone were carried out in 2014, 2015, 2016.
The employees of the department are actively involved in training the units of the National Police of different regions. In 2014 the employees of the department were engaged in tactical and shooting training of the volunteer battalion of the special police "Lviv".
During its existence the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department has organized and conducted many field trips and camp meetings in the conditions of the educational training department “Vereshchytsia”.
It is worth paying attention to another unique component of the department, which qualitatively distinguishes it in the structure of the educational institution. In August, during the summer holidays 90% of the staff of the Department of TST for two weeks takes an active part in organizing and conducting classes with entrants to study at the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs as part of the camp meeting. During this "Young Fighter's Course" the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department conducts practical classes on:
- firing from a 5.45 mm machine gun AKS-74U;
- practical use of personal protective equipment in a gaseous, smoky environment;
- practice of actions of a cadet on the command "Alarm";
- military training (drill) classes;
- overcoming significant distances in a conditionally limited time ("march-throw") at night (morning) time , with the active direct participation of the teachers.
The staff of the Department of TST is systematically involved in the organization and methodological guidance of the training of the rapid response company and conducting classes with the permanent staff of the university in the system of service training.
Taking into account the specific conditions and circumstances of official activity, the dynamic and diverse nature of professional activity, scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of TST continues to develop and improve following the three vectors of its activities.
