The Department of Economic and Legal Disciplines is an educational and scientific structural unit of the Faculty of Law of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, which was established by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine № 328 of 07.07.2008 "On organizational and staff changes of Ukrainian universities" due to the reorganization of the legal framework of entrepreneurship. The department is headed by Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Dolynska Maria Stepanivna.
Hryhoriy Vasyliovych Smolyn, Candidate of law, Associate Professor was the first who headed the department from 2008 to 2016. Among the founders of the department were Doctor of Law, Professor, the judge of the Supreme Court Volodymyr Mykolayovych Kravchuk and Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Ihor Mykhailovych Panyonko.
The development of the department is connected with the scientific and pedagogical activity of Professor, Doctor of Law Zharovska I.M.; Associate Professor, Candidate of Law, Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Supreme Court O.V. Ilnytsky; Associate Professor, Candidate of Law Volynets T.V. and Associate Professor, Candidate of Law Rabinovych A.V.
A significant contribution to the development of the department was made by Gayetska-Kolotylo Ya.Z., Kulgavets H.Yu., Pavliv-Samoyil N.P., Rudanetska O.S., Semenyuk I.Ya., Turkot O.A., Shtangret I. I. who worked at the department for a long time.
The main tasks of the department are: organization and implementation at the appropriate scientific and methodological levels of the educational process in order to train highly qualified specialists; performance of scientific researches according to the profile of the department, training of scientific and pedagogical staff and their professional development; providing methodological assistance to the university and faculty management; organization and carrying out of educational work with applicants for higher education. The activity of the department of economic and legal disciplines is based on the latest achievements of legal and pedagogical science, new forms, methods and pedagogical technologies are constantly introduced into the educational process.
The Department of Economic and Legal Disciplines trains specialists in educational and professional training programs in the specialty "Law" of "bachelor" and "master" degrees and provides teaching of economic and legal disciplines at the Faculty of Law and in the center of postgraduate education, extramural and distance learning.

Employees of public authorities, local governments, courts, researchers, etc. are invited to conduct classes and strengthen the applied, practical nature of teaching disciplines at the department, as well as under the guidance of scientific and pedagogical staff of the department the visits to practical institutions for higher education applicants are organized to acquaint with their activities.
