The Center of Postgraduate Education, Extra-mural and Distance Learning is one of the departments of the Institute for training specialists for the National Police Units of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs and was founded in October 2018 in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine from 31.10.2018 № 870 – «On the staff changes in the Ministry of Internal Affairs».
The Center trains specialists by state order and at the expense of individuals and legal entities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, central executive bodies, enterprises, institutions, organizations in extra-mural and distance forms of learning. As part of its professional activities, the Center also provides advanced training for employees of practical units of the National Police of Ukraine.
The educational process at the Center is provided by doctors and candidates of law, pedagogy, economics, philosophy, philology and history, as well as highly qualified practitioners of the National Police. Research and teaching staff of the university organically combine fundamental theoretical knowledge with experience in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine. An integral part of the educational process is cooperation with the territorial bodies of the National Police, as well as with the leading institutions of higher education in Ukraine.
All the necessary conditions for training are created for higher education applicants in the Centre: modern lecture halls equipped with multimedia equipment, classrooms for seminars and practical classes, computer classes, laboratories, modern general and special libraries with information retrieval system, which greatly facilitates the search for information and is necessary for consistent acquisition of new knowledge and skills, improvement of professional skills, improvement of moral and business qualities, study of the latest achievements of science and technology, use of positive experience in the professional activity.
The Center of Postgraduate Education, Extra-mural and Distance Learning carries out educational activities related to higher education in the following specialties:
- law;
- law enforcement activities;
- psychology;
- accounting and taxation;
- finance, banking and insurance;
- management.
In 2018 alone, the Center trained 2,280 applicants for higher education. Among them there are law enforcement officers, officials, employees of various sectors of the economy. Teaching of disciplines is provided by 216 scientific and pedagogical workers, from which 22 doctors of sciences and more than 150 candidates of sciences.

I. State order (for employees of the National Police)
1. Educational degree "master"
- Specialty "Law Enforcement activity", training period – 2 years.
2. Educational degree "bachelor", in the following specialties:
- "Law", training period – 5 years;
- "Law enforcement activity", training period – 4 years.
ІІ. At the expense of individuals and legal entities
1. Educational degree "master", in the following specialties:
- "Law", training period – 2 years;
- "Law enforcement activity", training period – 2 years;
- "Management", training period – 2 years.
2. Educational degree "bachelor", in the following specialties:
- "Law", training period – 4 years;
- "Law enforcement activity", training period – 3 years;
- "Psychology", training period – 4 years;
- "Accounting and Taxation", "Finance, Banking and Insurance", "Management", training period – 4 years.
