International experts share their experience in combating domestic and gender-based violence

Today, another stage of training conducted by the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine has sterted at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. Police officers of the Lviv region, responding to cases of domestic and gender-based violence, became participants of the event.

Yuriy Nazar, Director of the Institute for Training of Specialists for Units of the National Police of LvSUIA, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

"Due to the military operations in the country, the level of violence in society has been increasing. Therefore, specialists in the field of combating this phenomenon are in great demand," Yuriy Nazar emphasized.

In addition, he wished the training participants to gain new knowledge and improve their practical skills.

Hannelore Vallier, the Head of the EUAM Lviv Field Office, also welcomed the police officers. She spoke about the Mission's main activities.

"We started working in Ukraine in 2014 to support the civil security sector on the way to the European community. When the war began, our activities in the state intensified. And our specialists will support colleagues from the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office for further work in the liberated territories," Hannelore Vallier said.

The EUAM's Head wished the law enforcement officers to apply the acquired knowledge in various aspects of thteir professional activity.

The Trainer on Criminal Investigations Jukka Larkio from Finland encouraged the participants to be active in order to use the training as efficiently as possible.

The Senior Adviser on Prosecution Gediminas Buciunas from Lithuania and the Advisor/Trainer on Community Policing Lars Groenlund from Denmark told the law enforcement officers about their professional path and congratulated them on the start of their learning.

It should be mentioned that the training will last for four days and will end with the presentation of relevant certificates.
