"Since September last year, I have been teaching law at various educational institutions in Ukraine. I am inspired by the younger generation. It is important for me that the lectures are lively and interactive. We need not only to listen but also to discuss. It may not be easy at first, but I will ask you questions, and together we will build a real dialog," David Lewis emphasized.
During the lecture, he spoke about the structure of the US criminal justice system, as well as investigative methods, witness cooperation practices, and seizure and confiscation procedures.
The lecturer presented his practical experience in handling complex criminal cases in the areas of financial crimes, corruption, organized crime, money laundering, and cybercrime. He also outlined the key challenges faced by the modern law enforcement system in the context of globalization.
David Lewis has more than 40 years of experience at the U.S. Department of Justice, most of which he spent in the legendary U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), known for prosecuting mafia, financial criminals and high-profile corrupt officials. He also served as legal counsel to the U.S. Embassies in Tirana, Kyiv and Belgrade, and is currently an active lecturer in the U.S. and European countries.
For the cadets and students of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, this meeting was a unique opportunity to learn about real cases of the American legal system and to adopt the experience of one of the leading experts in the field.
